We invite you to apply for the HCA Gulf Coast Division
Graduate Nurse Residency Program
Transitioning from student to professional registered nurse can be challenging, which is why HCA has developed a Nurse Residency program that is a yearlong program comprised of two phases:
• StaRN, Specialty Training Apprenticeship for Registered Nurses, provides didactic, simulation and preceptor training
• Professional Development provides mentorship and monthly seminars
We offer training in Medical/Surgical, Critical Care, Telemetry, Woman’s Services, Emergency Department and the Operating Room. The StaRN program is 12-22 weeks of didactic, simulation lab and on-site training. The first 5-10 weeks of training (simulation lab and didactic) will be Monday - Friday consisting of 8-hour work days (40-hour week) with at home study days. Didactic & simulation training is provided at an offsite location. The remainder of the program will be the preceptorship (on-site training) which consists of 12-hour shifts on the unit that sponsored you. All participants that successfully complete the program will move into full-time roles at the facility that extended the initial offer.
