Welcome to the Kent School of Social Work at the University of Louisville! Social Work is a versatile, evidence-based profession. Social Workers impact change through individual and community advocacy, therapeutic interventions, and/or policy planning. The Kent School Master of Science in Social Work (MSSW) curriculum is rooted in social justice, human rights, professional integrity, and competence. This degree provides a deep understanding of social work practice and provides future social workers the skills necessary to address complex social issues.
The MSSW program consists of either the Advance Standing 30 credit hour or the Regular 60 credit hour program, offering classes during the weekdays, evenings, Saturdays or 100% online. Each curriculum plan accommodates your learning style and professional and personal commitments to help you achieve your goals at your own pace. In addition to small class sizes and innovative online classroom opportunities, the Kent School offers:
- Field practicum options in diverse and interdisciplinary setting
- Six (6) specialization opportunities (not required to specialize): Mental Health, School Social Work, Psychosocial Oncology, Alcohol & Drug Counseling, Gerontology, and Military Social Work
- On campus, 100% Online, and hybrid curriculum plans designed for all student needs. Advanced Standing plans ranging from 2-5 semesters, regular programs available for 2 or 3 years.
- Dual Degree options with Couple and Family Therapy, UL’s Law School, Pan-African Studies, Women & Gender Studies, Bioethics, and Divinity.
- No GRE or prerequisite courses required
