About

At the end of the day, after all the papers and exams, our focus at Grand Rapids Theological Seminary is to develop leaders who will guide others into transformative relationships with Jesus Christ and His Church. Every class at GRTS centers on this principle, reminding students of their responsibility to feed the sheep of God’s Kingdom.

We offer degrees in divinity, ministry, counseling, and theology for kingdom preparation. 

Master of Divinity

The Master of Divinity degree is the historical standard in academic preparation for both vocational ministry and advanced theological study. The 94 credit program includes studying the Bible in the original languages (Greek and Hebrew) and the opportunity to specialize in an area of ministry.

Master of Arts - Christian Formation

The M.A. Christian Formation program is designed to develop competency in the areas of Bible,Theology and educational ministry. The 65 credit program includes Ministry Residency and the opportunity to focus on an area of ministry specialization.

Master of Arts - Counseling

The M.A. Counseling program teaches the foundational theories and skills essential to the practice of counseling and fulfills the academic requirement for state licensure (LPC). There are a number of options for specializing in an area of counseling.

Master of Arts - Interdisciplinary Studies

The M.A. Interdisciplinary Studies program is designed to develop competency in the areas of Bible,Theology and ministry leadership. The 60 credit program includes multiple electives and the opportunity to select classes according to your particular interests. Students are encouraged to use this degree if they want to specialize in a specific area (Old Testament, New Testament, Systematic Theology, etc.)


Master of Theology (Th.M.)

The Master of Theology degree is intended to foster enhanced competency in a major field of study for those who have completed an MDiv or M.A. degree in a relevant theological discipline.
