The Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine is the nation’s largest medical school and the only Academic Health Center among the colleges of osteopathic medicine. With Millcreek Community Hospital and the Clinical Practices of Medical Associates of Erie, the College is the core of LECOM Health, an innovative medical education and health care system. This partnership strives to add to the quality of life for our neighbors by bringing total health care to the community. The Health Center has a 218-bed teaching hospital training new physicians and pharmacists with residency and fellowship programs in the region’s largest post-graduate medical training institution.
The College opened one of the top fitness and wellness facilities in the country, built a network of physician offices and operates a senior living center that is introducing a new generation in skilled nursing care for older adults. LECOM Health provides clinical training opportunities for pharmacy students throughout these facilities.

The mission of the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine is to prepare students to become osteopathic physicians, pharmacy practitioners, and dentists through programs of excellence in education, research, clinical care, and community service to enhance the quality of life through improved health for all humanity. The professional programs are dedicated to serve all students through innovative curriculum and the development of postdoctoral education and interprofessional experiences.
LECOM has designed a student-centered curriculum recognizing different learning styles: traditional Lecture Discussion Pathway (LDP); small-group, Problem-Based Learning Pathway; or the Directed-Study Pathway (DSP, formerly Independent Study). LECOM offers the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree at four campuses. The Erie, Pennsylvania, campus offers four learning pathways while the Greensburg, Bradenton, and Elmira campuses enroll students in PBL only. LECOM Erie also offers the Primary Care Scholars Pathway (PCSP) designed to attract more students to primary care, general internal medicine, and family medicine by condensing four years of medical education into three years. The Accelerated Physician Assistant Pathway (APAP) also allows Certified Physician Assistants (PA-C) to earn a DO degree in three years. APAP is available at the Greensburg campus.

The College of Osteopathic Medicine students choose between campuses in Erie, PA and Bradenton, FL. The main campus in Erie overlooks Lake Erie. The West Grandview Boulevard campus is less than a mile from Millcreek Community Hospital and just a few miles away from downtown Erie. Pennsylvania’s fourth largest city is a four-season tourist destination and commercial/industrial hub between Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Buffalo.
Those applicants who choose LECOM Erie through their AACOMAS designation have the option through the supplemental application to additional LECOM locations. LECOM at Seton Hill is located on the campus of Seton Hill University. LECOM at Seton Hill is located among 200 beautiful acres of tree-lined hills in Greensburg, PA. The campus is just 30 miles southeast of Pittsburgh. LECOM at Elmira, located within walking distance of Elmira College in Elmira, NY.
LECOM Bradenton serves a branch campus and is just a few miles east of the Florida Gulf Coast and located in Lakewood Ranch, a master-planned community between Sarasota and Bradenton, FL. Tampa is less than an hour north of the campus. LECOM Bradenton is also home to the School of Dental Medicine and the 4-year curriculum of the School of Pharmacy.
