Founded in 1864 as St. Louis College of Pharmacy, University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis has educated innovators and leaders who impact health care locally, nationally and globally.

The University includes the College of Arts and Sciences, College of Global Population Health and St. Louis College of Pharmacy, the third-oldest and 10th-largest college of pharmacy in the United States.

At University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis, we educate the whole student through a challenging curriculum taught through the lens of health care.

We offer undergraduate, graduate and professional degrees that prepare students for a variety of health professions careers and lays the perfect foundation for professional or graduate studies.

 

-          Our bachelor’s degrees will prepare you for a career in health professions and serve as the perfect foundation for graduate or professional study.

-          Our Doctor of Pharmacy program provides future pharmacists skills to lead in the profession and work in practice settings ranging from community pharmacies to biomedical facilities.

-          Through partnerships with neighboring institutions, the College also provides a pathway for students to complete graduate study in business.

The College’s curriculum integrates humanities and sciences to fully educate students not solely as scientists but also as well-rounded individuals.

Our small campus provides a tight-knit community and family feel while still giving you access to a wide professional network.

The University offers a full student life experience, including more than 60 student organizations, club and intramural sports and intercollegiate athletics. Students from 30 states and 15 countries are currently enrolled at the College.

The University has more than 7,000 living alumni in 48 states and 12 different countries, providing a vast network of health care professionals who will support you throughout your education and as you start your career.

UHSP is located on nine acres within the Washington University Medical Center, one of the nation’s premier biomedical complexes. This proximity to some of the top health care providers in the country gives students the opportunities for unparalleled partnerships and networking with institutions and hospitals like St. Louis Children’s Hospital, Goldfarb School of Nursing, Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and others.

When University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis was founded in 1864 as St. Louis College of Pharmacy, it was the first college of pharmacy west of the Mississippi River.

Since then, the University has played an integral role throughout history in the advancement of health care education.

Through times of war, economic depression and pandemics, the University has persevered and triumphed with innovation, evolution and the pioneering spirit of its founding. The University’s constant pursuit of excellence, insatiable curiosity and commitment to its students and community have always been the guiding light for our growth and expansion.

From our historic founding in a rented classroom to the campus we call home on Pharmacy Place, we have stood firmly in our mission to educate and advance communities of discovery to foster a healthier society.

 

­­­­Our Campus

University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy, is located in the heart of Central West End, a mix of sidewalk cafes, galleries, cinemas, apartments and homes.

Situated on nine acres in the Washington University Medical Center, a leading biomedical complex, our partnerships with the neighboring institutions will give you access to elite educational, professional and research experiences with some of the top health care professionals, faculty and researchers in the nation. Just blocks from campus is the Cortex Innovation Community, a hub of innovation, bioscience and research.

Forest Park, one of the largest urban parks in the country, is just a five-minute walk from campus. The park is home to a variety of free attractions, including:

-          Saint Louis Art Museum

-          Saint Louis Science Center

-          Saint Louis Zoo

-          The Muny, the country’s largest outdoor theater, which features Broadway-style productions

Our facilities bring technology into the classroom to support team-based learning, research and collaboration. Our six-story, 213,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art Academic and Research Building (ARB) and library was completed in 2015 infused with the latest technology and student-focused features throughout. The 193,000-square-foot Recreation and Student Center (RAS) houses new dining and recreation facilities, a fitness center, recreational and intercollegiate athletic gymnasiums, student center and the Student Success Center.

The newest additions to campus, completed in spring 2018, brought Chick-fil-A and Starbucks to campus, offering even more dining options.

Our successful alumni practice in a variety of settings. We have alumni who have founded pharmaceutical companies around the world, directed national pharmacy compliance programs and pharmacy associations, worked as infectious disease pharmacists and oncology pharmacists at world-renowned medical centers, served in various roles with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and invented new drugs to improve patient outcomes.

-          St. Louis, best known for the 630-foot tall Gateway Arch, is one of the most livable cities in the Midwest. The city is home to more than 300,000 residents living in 79 distinct neighborhoods and the St. Louis area is home to almost 3 million people.

St. Louis is home to two professional sports teams – the St. Louis Cardinals and the St. Louis Blues. The city offers many cultural opportunities and great entertainment venues with plenty of other areas for recreation spread throughout the region.
