ABOUT ROSS UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF MEDICINE

Ross University School of Medicine (RUSM) is one of the premierCaribbean medical schools providing an opportunity for aspiring medical students from around the world to fulfill their dream to become a physician.

A Proud History and Medical School Mission

Founded in 1978, RUSM has more than 11,000 alumni who are practicing in all 50 U.S. states, Canada, and beyond. Our mission is to prepare highly dedicated students to become effective, successful physicians. We do this by focusing on imparting the knowledge, skills, and values required for our students to establish a successful and satisfying career as a physician.

A Rigorous Medical School Experience

RUSM offers rolling admissions, meaning that we accept students three times per year: In May, September, and January. Students begin their journey to become physicians on the school’s campus in Dominica, located in the West Indies. Students complete a rigorous basic sciencecurriculum, supported by highly advanced instructional technology, including an anatomy and medical imaging laboratory and a simulation center where students begin to develop clinical skills. Students then complete their medical education by taking core and elective clinical rotations in U.S., Canada, and UK.

Technologically Advanced Learning Environment

At RUSM, students benefit from exceptional teaching and laboratory facilities designed with extensive multimedia and simulation capabilities. Technology is part of the fabric of the institution, and RUSM strives to brings our students the very best when it comes to medical imaging-enabled anatomy study and medical simulation.

Committed Medical School Faculty

The RUSM faculty for the Foundations of Medicine program in Dominica is comprised of about 70 physicians, educators, and researchers. Every member of the RUSM faculty holds an MD and/or PhD degree, and many are also board certified in their specialties.

Strong Performance on USMLE Step 1

Performance on Step 1 of the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) is one of the most important determinants in a medical student's ability to obtain the residency of his or her choosing. In 2014, RUSM achieved a first-time pass rate of 97 percent on USMLE, which is higher than the 96% rate achieved by US and Canadian schools, and above the rate achieved by osteopathic schools (93 percent).

RUSM has been on par with US and Canadian institutions on this important statistic for four years in a row.

Track Record of Residency Success

In 2015 alone, RUSM graduates earned more than 830 residencypositions, more than any other medical school in the world that year. Many of our graduates obtain residencies at the earliest available start dates and are well received by residency directors in programs approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)-approved hospitals throughout the United States.

Commitment to Excellence

RUSM has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to providing high-quality medical education in numerous ways, including recruitment ofleadership from renowned U.S. medical schools, and major capital investments in educational facilities and technology.
