The Texas A&M Irma Lerma Rangel College of Pharmacy, established in 2006 and located on the Texas A&M University-Kingsville campus, was created in response to the shortage of pharmacists in South Texas. The Rangel College of Pharmacy represents a significant addition to the HSC as the first health-related professional school in South Texas.

Mission: The mission of the College of Pharmacy is to provide a comprehensive pharmacy education in a stimulating, learning-intensive, student-centered environment to prepare a diverse student body for the practice of pharmacy as competent, caring, ethical professionals dedicated to the provision of optimal pharmaceutical care through a balanced program of education, research, and service.
Admissions and Application Deadline:
Students seeking admission to the Texas A&M Rangel College of Pharmacy must demonstrate the completion of a minimum of 74 semester credit hours of proposed pre-pharmacy course work in general education and in the basic physical and biological sciences. Applicants to the Texas A&M Rangel College of Pharmacy may apply using the Early Decision or Regular Decision application process. Degrees offered: The Rangel College of Pharmacy offers the Doctor of Pharmacy program, which leads to the Pharm.D. degree and the dual degree Pharm.D./MBA program. Visit: Dual Degree Program
Enrollment: Total enrollment for the Fall of 2016 was 439 students, with 49 percent of these students from South Texas counties. The average age is approximately 23, with an age range of 19-41. The gender diversity is approximately 56% female and 44% male. Enrollment diversity consists of 30.9% Hispanic, 36.7% Asian, 6.2% Black, 22.8% White, 3.2% Other, .2% Native Hawaiian.
Faculty to student ratio: The College has recruited a highly qualified and diversified faculty and has recorded a steady student to faculty ratio of 8:1.
Student organizations: The College supports 12 professional/leadership organizations that are actively engaged in many community health care and service projects.
Research: Research efforts have been initiated by the Rangel College of Pharmacy faculty. More than $3.2 million in research grant funds have been awarded since its inception.
Departments: The Rangel College of Pharmacy is comprised of the following two academic departments, Pharmaceutical Sciences and Pharmacy Practice and five administrative units, the Office of the Dean, Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Experiential Education, and Finance and Administration.
Alumni: The Rangel College of Pharmacy has graduated seven cohorts, graduating 578 potential pharmacists to serve as health care professionals.
