About

The University of Saint Joseph School of Pharmacy offers a 3-calendar year Doctor of Pharmacy program at its downtown Hartford, CT campus. The curriculum is taught in a modified block format where the students take only one course at a time. This innovative design has a proven record of increasing students’ ability to master the didactic material along with providing students with a rich experiential education. Additionally, this format allows students to enjoy the financial benefits of employment sooner as students complete their Doctor of Pharmacy degree in just three years rather than four years as in the traditional pharmacy programs.

To be eligible for admission the applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree, and must have completed a minimum of 68 semester credits of prepharmacy study in a regionally accredited college or university in the United States. Competitive Candidates should aim to achieve a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 on a 4-point scale and a minimum GPA of 2.8 in the 50 semester credits of required math and science courses, with no grade below a “C” (C-minus grades are not accepted). Ordinarily, all prerequisite coursework should be less than seven calendar years old. Applications are submitted online through the  Pharmacy College Application Service (PharmCAS). Candidates are also required to take the Pharmacy College Admission Test (PCAT). The latest the PCAT exam can be taken is January 2016 if the candidate plans to begin in fall 2016. The deadline to apply for fall 2016 admission is March 1, 2016.
