What is the online career fair?
The online career fair is a one-day online event for Orthotic & Prosthetic Students and Residents seeking opportunities to gain valuable professional resources to jump start your career in O&P and connect with clinical practices and manufacturing facilities. The event will take place on September 27, 2017. Attend this event from anywhere on your desktop, laptop, smartphones, or other internet connected devices.
Is there a cost to the fair?
The fair is free to attend for candidates.
Will hiring take place during the virtual fair?
Employers are encouraged to use this opportunity to share information about their facilities with candidates and begin the recruiting process. Formal interviews will take place outside of this event.
I do not see very many companies signed up at this time. Will more be added before the day of the event?
If you know a representative of a facility looking to interact with current students and residents seeking information about future employment opportunities, they may register to participate here.
Who will be in an employer chat rooms?
An employer will host a chat room where you and other participants can ask questions and converse. You may also enter one room at a time should you wish to interact with multiple sessions simultaneously. Facilities are encouraged to have multiple representatives present including managers, clinical mentors, current employees and human resource personnel.
Does all of the dialogue take place with a group or can I interact privately with hosts of the room as well?
Private chatting is possible between candidates and facility representatives, but they do reserve the right to limit private conversations should they need to facilitate a group discussion.
Is the system purely text based or can I see others in the chat rooms?
During group chat, only the facility representatives will be able to share a live audio/video stream. Candidates will be able reply using the text-based chat room messaging tools but do have the ability to share their audio/video in one-on-one sessions initiated by the host.
What types of questions will employers be prepared to answer?
You can ask about those positions and their requirements and other opportunities that may exist. Questions about an organization's culture and whether an employer or opportunity would be a good fit for you are also welcome.
How can I follow up after the fair?
The list of employers will be active after the conclusion of the fair. Simply click an employer's name on the list and review the "Website and Contact" section of the profile for any contact details that may have been given (note that not all employers will elect to share direct contact information, but they may contact you directly via the information posted to your profile).
