In the past year, I began researching the impact of global warming and its implications on the business community. After attending conferences in the Fall of 2007 (i.e GreenXchange and Clean Technology & Sustainability Industries), I realized that from this point forward, we are all individually responsible for what we do, or do not do, despite the fact that the impact of our choices are collective. Hearing astounding concerns and predictions from constituencies such as the Department of Energy & Water, Scientists, Policy-makers, and Entrepreneurs, I began to feel as though I needed to find a way to make a difference.
My expertise is around recruiting and career consulting. I realized that if I could leverage my recruiting strengths to convince the best and brightest minds of today and tomorrow to cast their talents toward the global challenges imposed by climate change that I would have helped the cause in my own way. With my heart and my conscience unanimously called to make a clear commitment to the Green-Eco mission, I essentially retired from my 18 year old business, known as Execume, to start a recruiting company called G3 Agency www.g3agency.com that focuses on serving green employers.
Quickly I began realizing that for jobseekers looking to make the leap into green jobs, it seemed unclear where to go to find out more on the topic. That’s when the idea of building CareerEco, a community for eco-minded job seekers and employers was born. With the help of my professional friends, interns, and trusted advisors, we have launched CareerEco in September 2008.
I do not pretend to be a living example of everything green. I recycle, conserve energy, and am careful with my water utilization. As an individual, I will continue to attempt to do my part regarding respecting the environment and protecting the natural resources with which we have been entrusted. As an individual, I can only do so much. As a professional however, I believe that bringing the needed expertise of others to the topic of green can make a difference that can help change the world for the better. I hope you will join us in this adventure of building a community of bright eco-minded people, who already are or who aspire to be green in their professional life.
